Major Advising Checklist: Environmental Studiesā€”Literature

All ESLI majors should use this form as they plan out the timing of their major coursework.

I. Core Courses
These four courses must be completed by the end of the junior year.
II. Cognate Courses: Laboratory Sciences from Approved List
Students who do not have an environmental science foci need to take two lab science cognates.

III. Focus (8 courses)
Course 1: ENAM 103 or CRWR 175
Course 2: ENAM 201 or 204
Course 3: ENAM/AMST 201 or 206
Courses 4 - 5
Two courses from among ENAM/AMST 0207, ENAM/AMST 0209, ENAM 0250, ENAM 0311, FREN 0315, and SPAN 0384
Course 6: ENAM 330, 331, or 332
Course 7: ENAM 243 or ENAM 227
Course 8
An upper level seminar approved in writing by the advisor for the literature focus
IV. Senior Experience
Students must have completed all four core courses before they can enroll in ES 401.
V. Off-campus course substitutions (if applicable)
For students studying off-campus, a total of up to three courses may count toward the major. Courses for the focus need approval from the advisor. Courses for cognates need approval from the director in consultation with other appropriate faculty members. Please list each approved off-campus course counting toward your major requirements. Include, course title, the course it is replacing and the semester it was taken.
